What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a purposeful cooperation between therapist and client in order to obtain a specific result which has been agreed beforehand. The Hypnotherapist leads the client into an altered state of awareness in which their attention is directed to and focused on inner resources.
The human mind is like a computer – we can use hypnosis to reprogramme it. When you are hypnotised, you are in a highly suggestible state, because the conscious, rational part of your mind (critical faculty) has been bypassed. Suggestions can then be given directly to the subconscious mind which can then utilise your inner resources in order to bring about desired changes. That is why with hypnotherapy it is so quick and easy to change the habits of a lifetime.
In their first session of hypnotherapy, many people are not aware at the time of treatment that anything significant has taken place (some may think they have not been in a hypnotic trance). They only realise the effectiveness later on when they experience (often marked) improvements in their condition.
Hypnotherapy has been found to be especially effective when combined with other therapies. Alongside hypnosis, I utilise EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy). Some NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) techniques are also used.
